Job summary

Longdean School is seeking an ambitious Head of Mathematics to lead a thriving department from Key Stage 3 to A Level and Further Mathematics, underpinned by a specialist STEM stream.

As Director of Learning - Mathematics, you will set curriculum, culture and outcomes, coach colleagues, and shape teaching across Years 7–13, with strong backing from a school that invests in its leaders. Start date: January 2027.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead a Mathematics department across Key Stage 3 to A Level and Further Mathematics.
• Strong vision for curriculum, culture and outcomes across 11–18.
• Ability to coach colleagues and raise teaching standards across the department.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Mathematics department across Key Stage 3 to A Level and Further Mathematics.
• Shape and implement curriculum and assessment strategies.
• Coach and develop staff to deliver outstanding teaching and pupil outcomes.
• Drive the STEM stream and ensure high-quality teaching for all ability levels.
