Job summary

Longdean School is seeking an ambitious Head of Mathematics to lead a thriving department from Key Stage 3 to A Level and Further Mathematics, underpinned by a specialist STEM stream.

As Director of Learning - Mathematics, you will set curriculum, culture and outcomes, coach colleagues, and shape teaching across Years 7–13, with strong backing from a school that invests in its leaders. Start date: January 2027.

Are you ready to lead a department where mathematics doesn't justget taught - it gets brought to life? We're looking for an ambitious,inspirational Head of Mathematics to take the reins of a thriving faculty thatstretches from Key Stage 3 right through to A Level and Further Mathematics,underpinned by a specialist STEM stream that sets our younger mathematicians onthe path to greatness from day one.

This is a rare opportunity for a strategic, subject-passionateleader to shape curriculum, culture, and outcomes across the full 11-18 journey- and to do it with the backing of a school that genuinely invests in itsleaders.

You'll bring a genuine creative vision for what a Mathematicsdepartment can be, and the strategic leadership skills to turn that vision intoresults. As an outstanding practitioner yourself, you'll set the standard forteaching across the department - coaching colleagues, sharpening curriculumfrom Year 7 through to Year 13, and making sure every student gets the teachingthey deserve, whether they're finding their feet in our STEM stream, workingtowards Core Maths, or pushing for the top grade in Further Mathematics.
