Head of Marketing, Vintage (12-month FTC)

Are you a brilliant communicator with the drive and vision to create and deliver industry-leading campaigns across a range of genres? Would you love the opportunity to play a central role in imprint and catalogue strategy? Vintage are looking for a strategic and creative marketer, reporting to the Marketing Director of Vintage and working as part of a team of twelve with two direct reports.

About the team

At Vintage, we are dedicated to bold publishing. Our books encourage readers worldwide to think differently. We produce award-winning and bestselling titles across fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and graphic novels. Our imprints include Chatto & Windus, Jonathan Cape, The Bodley Head, Harvill, Fern Press, and Vintage Classics. Vintage is part of Penguin Random House UK.

Our authors include Margaret Atwood, Yuval Noah Harari, Rory Stewart, Nigella Lawson, Tim Spector, Haruki Murakami, Ocean Vuong, and others.

The role

You will lead marketing strategies for key titles at Vintage, focusing on campaigns for Jonathan Cape and our catalogue and classics lists. You will manage a team of two and be part of the senior marketing team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver sales-driven campaigns for lead titles and manage brand strategies for major authors
  • Support growth strategies and acquisitions for the Jonathan Cape imprint
  • Lead marketing for Vintage’s catalogue and classics, collaborating with sales, editorial, publicity, and data teams
  • Contribute to divisional marketing strategies and lead key projects
  • Show leadership in creative thinking, strategic planning, audience targeting, positioning, and campaign analysis
  • Manage and develop two direct reports

What you’ll bring

  • Proven success in delivering high-profile book marketing campaigns
  • Experience in planning, executing, and analyzing campaigns to boost sales and author profiles
  • Management experience across various genres
  • Strong design sense and understanding of consumer attention factors
  • Excellent copywriting and audience insight skills
  • Experience in creative direction and presenting marketing strategies
  • Effective people management and leadership skills
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Team player with a passion for books and building industry networks
  • Experience running advertising campaigns on Meta, TikTok, Google, and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience working with agencies across media and creative sectors
