Our Team

The Marketing team is responsible for advancing UKTV's growth through the recruitment and retention of audiences, for our brands and our content. The wider Marketing and Communications team includes Communications, Creative, Media Planning and Social Media. The award-winning marketing team devises effective, efficient, and innovative marketing strategies & plans for our brands and our content genres. UKTV's Marketing team has contributed to the network's strong market share and revenue growth and to the enjoyment of millions of fans across the nation.

Purpose of the role

The Head of Marketing, Unscripted is primarily responsible for UKTV's unscripted content and will lead our marketing efforts in the fast-paced and ever-evolving broadcast industry. Launching titles such as Pete Wicks For Dogs Sake, Silence is Golden, Emma Willis Delivering Babies, Bangers and Cash and Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, the unscripted slate is a critical part of UKTV's growth strategy. As an intrinsic, senior member of the Marketing department this role is expected to drive the strategy and the marketing approach for unscripted content and will take on direct responsibility for the brand and marketing performance. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the strategic initiatives to elevate our brand, drive audience engagement and support revenue growth. This role leads a team with a track record in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies. The role will build productive working relationships across a wide group of key stakeholders / partners, working collaboratively to influence strategy, drive performance and enhance the creativity & effectiveness of our network and programming.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in a similar senior marketing role with extensive track record of building brands, and a skill set of brand strategy, advertising campaign development and measurement and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective marketing strategies, ideally in a B2C environment.
  • Experience in content marketing across linear and VoD platforms.
  • Experience of both paid-for media and owned media, with expertise in both traditional & digital mediums working with media agencies.
  • A consistent track record of inspiring trust & respect both internally and externally; building strong stakeholder relationships and influencing others effectively.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing trends and technologies
  • Understands commercial targets and connects to brand KPIs, delivering marketing plans that drive business growth.

  • Lead a high performing team, providing them with clear goals and direction. Work to inspire, empower, motivate, and develop them, fostering an inclusive environment where they can perform at their best.
  • Own all through the line marketing for UKTV's scripted or unscripted programming.
  • Develop and implement the marketing strategy & plans in conjunction with the Marketing Director
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the overall business objectives, working with internal insight and data teams stakeholders to maintain a competitive edge in the broadcast landscape.
  • Own the day-to-day management of our brands whilst launching UKTV's programming with scale to audiences across television and VoD by devising and implementing innovate campaigns to increase audience reach and engagement.
  • Own the budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and a positive return on investment, providing reporting to senior leadership against key success metrics when required.
  • Be a champion for the importance of marketing in the business.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director and stakeholders to lead the design of the long-term brand building strategies and development plans necessary to deliver sustainable growth and realise our commercial goals. Set a clear direction and mobilise the team to deliver against the strategy.
  • Be the voice of the audience, partnering with Insights, data, and media planning functions to deliver insight-led marketing campaigns and brand strategies which attracts diverse audiences.
  • Initiate research and use available data sources to evaluate on-going performance, identify issues and opportunities, and recommend courses of action.
  • Work closely with our agency partners, and our own in-house creative, planning and media teams, to translate insights into effective strategies and plans.
  • Support prioritisation of activity across the network in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
  • Hold budget responsibility for marketing spend, working closely with Finance to maintain financial controls and ensure forecasting and spend is in line with agreed budgets as defined by the CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) and COO (Chief Operating Officer)
  • As a member of the leadership team within Marketing, work in collaboration with the Marketing Director to drive the culture and capability of the marketing team. You will provide a platform for all team members to be heard as part of UKTV's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with production companies, producers, and talent where necessary.
  • Support prioritisation of activity across the department in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
