Ready to put your stamp on one of the UK’s leading storytelling theatre companies? Tall Stories is searching for a creative marketing leader to grow its impact and shape how its award-winning shows connect with audiences.

Tall Stories is a storytelling family theatre company bringing award-winning shows to family audiences across the UK and worldwide. From our home in Islington Central Library, we create productions full of music, puppetry and laughter, with a commitment to making theatre accessible to all children and families. Alongside our touring work, we support artists and deliver community projects that extend our impact beyond the stage.

We’re now looking for an experienced, strategic and creative marketing leader to shape and deliver Tall Stories’ brand and marketing strategy. You’ll grow awareness of our work, drive imaginative campaigns that engage diverse audiences, and build strong partnerships with venues, agencies and communities. With a data-led, inclusive approach and excellent leadership skills, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our shows reach families in London across the UK and around the world while achieving sales targets.

You’ll manage a new Marketing and Social Media Officer (to be recruited) and ensure the Tall Stories brand is represented consistently across all channels. This role is perfect for a strategic, creative marketer with strong leadership skills, a data-driven approach, and a commitment to inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • As Head of Marketing and Brand, you will ensure that inclusion underpins every aspect of Tall Stories’ brand and communications, reflecting our commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Lead Tall Stories’ brand and marketing strategy across all productions, platforms, and campaigns in line with our brand promises.
  • Drive audience growth and diversification using insight, data, and creative initiatives.
  • Manage multi-channel marketing campaigns for Tall Stories productions on tour and in the West End.
  • Oversee digital, social, press, and promotional activity to maximise reach and engagement.
  • Devise and deliver innovative marketing assets and content, ensuring alignment with brand and Rights Holders’ guidelines.
  • Manage sales targets, re-forecasting, and budgets to ensure campaigns deliver strong results.
  • Build and maintain relationships with venues, publishers, partners, and external agencies.
  • Develop partnerships with schools, communities, and family-focused brands to expand audience reach.
  • Lead and support the Marketing & Social Media Officer, freelancers, and creative suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and company policies; contribute to funder and stakeholder reporting.


Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Substantial senior-level experience in strategic marketing, communications, or audience development (ideally in theatre/arts).
  • Demonstrable success in developing and delivering strategies that grow and diversify audiences.
  • Experience managing brands across platforms and overseeing press/media campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of digital content and platforms (social, web, email) and use of data/insight to engage audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, external agencies, and suppliers effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident leading people and cross-departmental projects.
  • Commitment to equity of opportunity for children and families to access theatre.
  • Manages themselves effectively under pressure, remaining solutions-focused.

Desirable

  • Experience with theatre and/or family audiences.
  • Strong visual eye; confident briefing designers or using creative tools.
  • Knowledge of audio/video editing.
  • Experience building external partnerships.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility and inclusive communications.
  • Connections within regional or national arts marketing networks.
