Job description

Job Description

Head of Maintenance – York, PA

Lunova Group is recruiting a Head of Maintenance for a large, complex manufacturing facility based in York, Pennsylvania. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity to modernize maintenance practices at a site with deep industrial roots and active capital investment. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.

Why Join the Team?

This facility includes a unique mix of aging infrastructure and evolving technology. The Head of Maintenance will be a critical force in driving equipment reliability, proactive maintenance, and safety-first culture—playing a key role in the facility’s transformation. The right candidate will join an organization prioritizing safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. It’s a chance to lead change, develop people, and make a lasting impact.

About the Role:

The Head of Maintenance will oversee the installation, repair, and upkeep of all plant equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, and structural assets. You'll lead a department of nearly 60 across multiple maintenance functions and be responsible for driving TPM initiatives, creating a true preventive maintenance program, and supporting an overall shift in safety behavior. This is not a reactive maintenance role—it's a strategic leadership position for a thoughtful, hands-on change agent.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and mentor a large, diverse maintenance team including supervisors, reliability engineers, and skilled trades.
  • Champion safety-first thinking and practices across all maintenance activities.
  • Design and implement a proactive, detailed preventive maintenance program beyond “check-the-box” standards.
  • Assess and modernize aging infrastructure, equipment, and OEM systems; develop an obsolescence plan.
  • Manage and prioritize maintenance budgets, capital needs, and contractor activities.
  • Oversee maintenance efforts across all production units and multiple plant zones.
  • Serve as a key partner in the plant’s EHS transformation, helping embed safety as a behavior, not just a process.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and leadership teams to achieve plant goals.
  • Drive Lean, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement practices throughout maintenance teams.
  • Lead reliability-based initiatives including root cause analysis (RCA), failure modes (FMEA), and autonomous maintenance.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial setting.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing large teams.
  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with demonstrated success improving equipment reliability.
  • Experience with TPM, preventive maintenance program design, RCA, FMEA, and Lean methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Facilities Management is but not required—extensive maintenance leadership experience will be considered in lieu.
  • Prior success working in older, brownfield manufacturing environments is strongly .
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, coach teams, and develop talent in a changing environment.
  • Must be safety-led, hands-on, and passionate about culture change.
