Job description

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Operations

Venn Group has partnered with a prestigious Central Government organisation to recruit a Head of Maintenance Operations on a permanent basis.

You will be part of the senior management team, responsible for setting professional and technical standards and participating in strategic management issues.

You will oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of estate building services systems, managing a team of mechanical, electrical, and building fabric officers, craft persons, and contractors to meet KPIs and maximize operational availability.

Location: Central London

Duration: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 36 hours/week, 4 days onsite, 1 day remote

Key Duties:

1. Provide effective leadership and management of maintenance teams, ensuring work is delivered against SLAs.
2. Lead staff in remedial actions, ensuring safety, and liaising with senior management and stakeholders.
3. Hold monthly contract performance meetings, monitoring SLAs and KPIs.
4. Develop knowledge of engineering services, including the 11 KV network, steam boilers, and HVAC systems.
5. Advise on planned maintenance, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
6. Ensure statutory inspections are completed for all assets under control.
7. Procure maintenance contracts, develop technical specifications, and lead tender evaluations.

Candidate Requirements:

1. Member or working towards a professional institute such as CIBSE, IMechE, or IET.
2. Experience in performance management, KPIs, and workforce management.
3. Commitment to estate service standards and customer care.
4. Extensive experience managing complex building services.
5. Experience managing budgets and contracts over £5m.
