Job description

We are seeking a Managing Director to lead our London Loan Capital Markets team. This role involves managing Loan Capital Markets origination, syndication, and distribution across amongst others the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany. You will closely liaise with other departments and oversee the European Loan Capital Markets business related to Food, Agri and Energy Transition which includes Project Finance, Infrastructure Finance and Corporate Financing.

You will cultivate strong client relationships, create impactful presentations, and represent the bank at high-level meetings and events. Your expertise in syndicated lending will enable you to tailor financing solutions, oversee debt underwriting, and negotiate complex loan documentation. Additionally, you will lead syndication strategies, ensure accurate internal reporting, and maintain senior industry contacts. Your strategic vision will drive the implementation of global business objectives, achieve financial targets, and ensure regulatory compliance. As a leader, you will inspire and manage the London Loan Capital Markets team, maximizing deal flow and income while engaging with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be expected to achieve business, regulatory, and personal goals, certification processes, and financial targets, aligning with the strategic aims of the Capital Markets department and the overall Bank strategy.

The Function & Role:

The W&R Europe, Africa & Asia Region (“EA&A”) is set up to serve wholesale clients in Europe, Africa & Asia and to strengthen our commercial and operational effectiveness in the corporate market. The Markets division encompasses all of Rabobank’s financial markets activities, including money markets, FX trading, credit trading, commodity derivatives, interest rate and FX options, corporate and FI sales, and Capital Markets (CM). CM operates globally, offering products such as syndicated loans, public and private bonds, leveraged loans, high yield bonds, and ratings advisory. CM is integral to the Markets and W&R strategy, focusing on origination, execution, and distribution of capital market products for global clients, used for refinancings, working capital, capital expenditure, and strategic M&A. Our professionals maintain high-level relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and institutional investors, ensuring a continuous flow of mandates. Skills & Experience Required:
  • Financial Analysis and Credit Skills:
    Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data, assess credit risk, and make informed decisions related to lending and capital markets.
  • Structuring Expertise:
    Proficiency in structuring infrastructure or project finance transactions that are market-accepted.
  • Syndication Process:
    Experience in leading or overseeing the syndication process, ensuring successful distribution.
  • Negotiation Skills:
    Exceptional ability to negotiate terms, agreements, and contracts effectively.
  • Effective Communication:
    Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for clear interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Workstream Coordination:
    Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, ensuring smooth project execution through effective coordination.
  • Loan Documentation Knowledge:
    Familiarity with Loan Market Association (LMA) loan documentation, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
