Head of Literacy and Communication

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Literacy and Communication, shaping strategy and practice.

Hours: Term time only, 35 hours per week

Salary: 34,398 + 2,787 SEN allowance + TLR2a 3,000 - 5,000 (depending on experience)

As the Head of Literacy & Communication, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring on-going assessment of students work and abilities
  • Provide differentiated work to meet individual student needs
  • Write annual reports and reviews
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with parents
  • Contribute to the design and provision of engaging curriculum
  • Supporting the headteacher in all matters of the school policy
  • Design and plan schemes of work for literacy and communication
  • Monitoring the teaching of literacy and communication through learning walks and observation of teachers
  • Train and coach teachers and support staff in the teaching of literacy and communication

The successful Head of Literacy & Communication will have the following related skills / experience:

  • Qualified Teacher with a strong background in SEN
  • Experience of training in phonics and / or speech and language interventions
  • Additional SEN qualification
  • Knowledge of current national curriculum for Literacy
