We are seeking key officers within Legal Services to help us achieve our ambitions during this exciting period of change.

Role Overview

As Head of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer, working alongside Members and Directors, you will play a vital role in the success of our Borough.

As the Council’s principal legal advisor, you will be instrumental in our major regeneration projects and housing initiatives, as well as supporting the Council through significant changes in Local Government. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your passion for governance, administrative law, and data protection legislation to shape these schemes and secure the best outcomes for Dartford residents. We encourage innovation and collaboration, and you will have the chance to make a direct impact through your own case load and by leading both Legal and Democratic Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice to support council initiatives and projects.
• Lead the Legal and Democratic Services teams.
• Promote and maintain high standards of conduct as the Monitoring Officer.
• Handle allegations of misconduct by Borough and Town/Parish Councillors.
• Oversee the Council’s Constitution to ensure its effective operation.
• Embark on a leadership role in governance, administration law, and data protection.
