Job summary

Major, Lindsey & Africa is recruiting on behalf of a Europe‑leading consumer business to spearhead its Legal Operations strategy. This is the first LO hire, targeting a mid‑senior lawyer with contracts, technology law, and some legal operations exposure.

The role is a 6‑month contract with potential extension, based in London with hybrid work (3 days in the office). You will help establish this function while handling a busy mix of commercial and operational matters.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' PQE in commercial contracts and technology law.
• Private practice experience is highly desirable.
• Exposure to legal operations and contract management.
• Available to start immediately.

Major, Lindsey & Africa are working with one of Europe's most established consumer businesses, who are looking for someone to spearhead their Legal Operations strategy. It will be their first hire in this area, and is well-suited to a mid-senior level commercial contracts and/ or technology lawyer with some exposure to legal operations, who is looking to make this the focus of their work. The role is initially on a 6-month contract, but the client envisions this being a longer-term engagement as the successful candidate will play a key part in establishing this aspect of their legal team.

Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer with 7+ years' PQE


• Strong background in commercial contracts and technology agreements, with the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice.


• Previous experience in private practice is highly desirable.


• Exposure to legal operations, process improvement, contract management, and broader legal team support activities would be advantageous.


• Able to start immediately.


• Willing and able to work from a London office three days per week on a hybrid basis.


• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing a varied workload across commercial and operational legal matters.
