Our client is a non-traditional advertising and creative agency group that does things differently. Fiercely proud of its independence and creative family, it has a global presence across Europe, North America, and Asia, working with a selection of fantastic brands.

The Legal & Business Affairs team is close-knit and collaborates effectively. The business seeks to hire a Head of Legal to manage the team and report to the General Counsel.

The group includes various businesses in advertising, PR, design, in-house production, and film. No two days are the same, and the legal team adopts a solutions-oriented approach, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. “No” is never the answer!

The Role
The four main focus areas for this role will be:

• Managing contracts with third parties such as clients, talent, production partners, and suppliers;
• Providing advisory support on business affairs, especially around intellectual property, idea clearance, and execution;
• Handling regulatory and governance issues affecting the business, including GDPR, AI, greenwashing, HFFS regulations, and CAP & BCAP matters;
• Line management of the London-based legal team, with support to Business Affairs as needed.

The Successful Candidate
We seek experienced lawyers with approximately 7-10 years' PQE (candidates with relevant experience outside this range will also be considered). Strong expertise in advertising, marketing, IP/rights, transactional work, and advisory roles is essential. Experience in drafting and negotiating licensing, production contracts, clearance, and compliance matters is highly valuable. Candidates should be fully qualified in the UK or equivalent, with previous experience in the advertising/creative industry or agency space being beneficial.
