Head of Learning – ESOL

Salary: £43,294 - £49, 584per annum (Grade 5 -6 )

Full Time, 37 Hours Per Week, Permanent (1.0 FTE)

Working in partnership with the Director of Lifelong Learning and Skills and in collaboration with the wider curriculum management team, you will lead on ESOL delivery for Study Programme learners, adults and in community settings – playing a pivotal role in driving growth strategies in these areas, including their development, innovation and rigorous quality improvement processes. An ambitious and student-focussed leader you will share our commitment to our goal of continued progress in high levels of learner progress and achievement.

Your passion and enthusiasm will be underpinned by the experience, skills and understanding you bring including:

  • Experience of leading and shaping ESOL provision, including Study Programmes, Adult Learning, and Community-based delivery, with a strong focus on inclusivity and learner-centred approaches.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence, using data and insight to drive improvements in teaching, learning, assessment, and staff development.
  • An innovative approach to curriculum design, embedding real-world English skills that support learners to progress confidently into further education, employment, or training.
  • A track record of building partnerships and fostering an inclusive team culture, working collaboratively with staff, learners, and external stakeholders to enhance support and opportunities.
  • Be passionate about learner achievement, with proven success in helping students achieve their goals and make meaningful progress in their education and beyond.

It is essential that you have a PGCE or equivalent, a degree and relevant teaching experience, along with a CPD portfolio to evidence your up-to-date knowledge and skills.
