Job summary

The University of Birmingham seeks an experienced Assistant Director, Learning Environments, to shape the future of AV services and learning spaces across over 300 teaching areas. You will provide strategic guidance, lead design of spaces, and embed innovative technologies to enhance student and staff experiences.

You will manage a budget exceeding £1 million per year, mentor a diverse team, and collaborate with Estates, ITS and academic stakeholders to deliver high-impact learning environments.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education in a relevant discipline or substantial practical experience.
• Full, clean driving licence to support operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership of learning spaces and AV services across 300+ spaces.
• Lead design input for new buildings and campus redevelopment projects.
• Act as authority on immersive learning technologies and service models.
• Develop standards, policies and governance for AV and learning spaces.
• Prepare reports and business cases for senior leadership and governance boards.
• Lead a diverse team of over 30 professionals and manage a >£1M budget.
