We are looking to recruit a Head of IT Operations (UK & IRE), based at our head office in York.

This role is integral to managing the day-to-day operations of all VetPartners' IT solutions for the UK & Ireland.

The individual in this role will report to the UK Managing Director and closely collaborate with the Group Technology & Information Security Directors. The key responsibilities include ensuring optimal operational performance of technology solutions within the UK & Ireland and implementing new solutions that adhere to our group technology standards.

We are searching for a candidate with experience in complex organizations, akin to a managed service provider, but who also possesses the flexibility and adaptability of an entrepreneurial business. They will manage local country third-party IT providers and work closely with the Group technology and security functions to ensure a consistent, secure, and robust technology stack supporting our practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day to day operations of all VetPartners' IT solutions.

  • Ensure availability, security and scalability of all IT solutions, including networks, applications and data, underpinning VetPartners' offerings.
  • Define, measure, track and evolve Key Performance Indicators & Service Level Agreements.
  • Manage partners / vendors to ensure full service integration that provides an end-to-end IT offering designed with our customers in mind.
  • Identification of IT risks and threats and implementation of agreed mitigating actions.
  • Investigation and resolution of IT incidents.
  • Provide highly available IT Help desk support services in line with VetPartners' working practices.
  • Work proactively alongside Project delivery teams
  • Support and develop the service delivery and infrastructure teams

Furthermore, the successful candidate will create a culture of continuous professional development, transition new ways of working into business-as-usual, and continuously improve capabilities and optimize processes.

Experience:

An effective senior manager and team player with the ability to manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • IT service delivery and support aligned to industry good-practice.

  • Resilient, able to work within a changing and developing environment.
  • Ability to engage and build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders and vendors / partners.

Essential requirements:

  • Extensive experience in senior IT roles with management of circa 20+ colleagues.
  • Leading IT organisation in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience of introducing new and innovative ways of working into organisations.
  • Management of third-party solution/ service providers and contracts.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure solutions including data centre provision.
  • The role requires a minimum of 3 days per week in-office, as a minimum

Desirable:

  • Healthcare industry experience - or experience in an IT Magaged Service provider supporting a similar service.
