Job summary

Aimtech Recruitment is seeking a Head of IT to own technology strategy, business systems and IT service delivery for an established business. You will shape investment decisions, develop the IT team and ensure technology supports the organisation’s everyday operations and longer‑term ambitions.

This role combines strategic responsibility with involvement in delivery, requiring you to discuss priorities with senior leadership, challenge technical proposals and help teams resolve complex issues.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an IT function or large technology team.
• Delivery of complex multi-team implementations.
• Strong understanding of ERP, CRM and digital commerce.
• Experience with data architecture and integrations.
• Experience with budgets, supplier relationships and outsourced delivery.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded technology leader who enjoys turning business priorities into practical improvements. You’ll shape investment decisions, develop the IT team and ensure technology supports the organisation’s everyday operations and longer‑term ambitions.

The position combines strategic responsibility with involvement in delivery. You’ll need to be comfortable discussing priorities with senior leadership, challenging technical proposals and helping teams resolve complex issues.

The role

• Build a clear technology roadmap, prioritising investment against business value, operational needs and risk.
• Lead and develop the IT function, bringing together business applications, infrastructure and service delivery.
• Improve how ERP, CRM and e‑commerce platforms work together, with a focus on reliable integrations and accessible data.
• Take accountability for IT budgets, supplier performance and commercial negotiations.
• Oversee technology projects from initial requirements through implementation, adoption and benefits tracking.
• Strengthen security, resilience and business continuity across systems and services.
• Establish clear service standards and improve incident, problem and change management.
• Identify practical opportunities for AI and automation, supported by appropriate controls and user training.
• Provide senior stakeholders with clear advice on technology choices, costs and delivery risks.

What we’re looking for

You’ll bring experience leading an IT function or a broad technology team, alongside a track record of delivering improvements across business systems and operational IT.

• Delivery of complex implementations involving multiple teams and external partners.
• Strong understanding of cloud business applications, particularly ERP, CRM and digital commerce.
• Experience overseeing integrations, data architecture and database environments.
• Ownership of technology budgets, supplier relationships and outsourced delivery.
• Working knowledge of cyber security, IT governance and service management.
• The ability to translate technical issues into clear business decisions.
• A practical understanding of AI and where it can create measurable value.
• A supportive leadership style, with experience developing people and guiding teams through change.

Experience working with systems integration partners in an SME environment would be particularly relevant. A relevant technical qualification or equivalent professional experience is welcomed.

The role is onsite x2 a week but with expectations that you will be able to be in the office more if the role requires.
