Head of Investment Oversight

Main Purpose of the Role

The primary responsibility is to lead the Investment Oversight team, establishing and maintaining a robust framework for the independent management of investment risks and performance across portfolios. The role also involves supporting stakeholders with timely, accurate portfolio data and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate all investment risks. Develop and maintain an investment oversight framework aligned with market best practices and regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to risk limits and investment guidelines.
  2. Collaborate with portfolio managers, analysts, and traders to understand risk appetite, challenge portfolio construction, and deliver insightful risk and performance analysis. Communicate key findings clearly to support decision-making.
  3. Incorporate climate and broader ESG risks management into the investment oversight framework.
  4. Utilize technology to automate workflows and reporting, reducing reliance on spreadsheets and enabling scalability.
  5. Validate models used by the team, communicate assumptions and limitations to relevant committees.
  6. Respond accurately and promptly to RFPs, due diligences, and information requests. Support business development with automated, self-service solutions.
  7. Maintain robust investment valuation processes, including oversight of fund administrators, shadow NAV control, and valuation assessments.
  8. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of portfolio data across systems.
  9. Produce investment reports such as factsheets, institutional reports, and committee packs.
  10. Ensure compliance with GIPS standards and best practices.
  11. Contribute to product development, ensuring all risks, performance, and reporting requirements are met.
  12. Promote a culture of financial awareness, resource optimization, and cost savings without compromising quality or strategy.
  13. Manage team activities and performance to meet service levels, client, and regulatory requirements.
  14. Ensure team skills are up-to-date and foster a high-performance environment.
  15. Drive sustainability initiatives proactively.
  16. Maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and market best practices.
  17. Own policies and procedures as per Governance Framework.
  18. Represent the department on committees and working groups proactively.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
  • Degree in a numerical discipline preferred (e.g., Finance, Mathematics, Physics).
  • 10+ years in financial services, ideally in asset management.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Experience with relational databases and data management platforms (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake, AWS).
  • Scripting experience (e.g., SQL, Python) and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong understanding of multi-factor models (e.g., Bloomberg MAC, Axioma).
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for scalability.
  • Knowledge of UCITS and AIFMD regulations.
  • Liquidity risk management experience.
  • Hands-on experience with equity, fixed income, and derivatives instruments.
  • Experience with investment management platforms (e.g., Dimension, CRD, AIM).
  • Understanding of investment accounting principles.
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior management and clients.
