Job Introduction
Main Responsibilities

Handelsbanken is undergoing a multi-year IT modernization program to replace its payments and core banking systems. We need a Head of Integration Technology to take technical ownership of these areas. The role involves building and leading a modern software capability in the UK to integrate Handelsbanken's systems with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software solutions.

The successful candidate will lead a technical team, oversee integration and COTS software, provide strategic technical direction, improve collaboration with Group teams, and support the migration of digital offerings to the Cloud. Collaboration with key stakeholders across the business is essential. Additionally, the candidate should be able to influence and shape the transition to a modern agile mindset and operating model.

Technical Leadership
  • Own application design quality, select appropriate technologies for high-performance, stable, large-scale, microservices-based, cloud applications.
  • Act as a counterpart to the digital product owner, jointly manage the backlog.
  • Take technical ownership of UK integrations and oversee all related work.
  • Ensure compliance with IT development controls and manage platform risks and governance.
  • Contribute to technical buy vs. build decisions aligning with modernization strategy.
  • Securely incorporate third-party and Group solutions into digital offerings.
  • Support the transition to microservice-based cloud applications.
  • Evaluate technical efficiency, long-term costs, time to market, and technical debt.
  • Ensure excellent third-line support for products and services.
  • Stay updated with digital technology trends and incorporate them into system designs.
  • Enable teams to be accountable for testing, ensuring it is fast, frequent, and effective.
  • Integrate security into the development process.
  • Participate in code reviews and pair programming as appropriate.
  • Support a move towards a DevOps culture when required.
Delivery Aspects
  • Manage technical aspects of delivery for payments and core banking touchpoints.
  • Enhance agile practices and optimize delivery throughput for front-end and back-end components.
  • Drive technical operational excellence through continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate technical efficiency, long-term costs, and technical debt.
  • Balance Agile and Waterfall methodologies as needed.
  • Manage vendor product configurations and SI relationships as necessary.
People Leadership of UK Integration Teams
  • Line management for developers and configuration staff to achieve modernization outcomes.
  • Build, develop, and lead a modern software capability across multiple teams.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, share best practices, and empower teams to drive change.
  • Conduct structured performance reviews for ongoing professional development.
  • Translate department objectives into team key results.
Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in product engineering and delivery, with at least 2 years in a people management role.

  • Proven track record of delivering well-engineered solutions using current technologies.
