Job Summary

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as Head of Information Exploitation, leading a large multidisciplinary team (circa 300 staff), setting and executing the vision for data exploitation across the MOD. You will oversee mission-critical data capabilities, aiding Defence in becoming a more data-driven organization. Your work will directly influence decision-making and operational effectiveness across UK Defence, from shaping data platforms and architectures to embedding data standards and governance.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement data exploitation strategies and services.
2. Lead and motivate teams across data science, engineering, and analysis.
3. Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to develop data-enabled capabilities.
4. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and user-centered design.
5. Represent Defence in cross-government and international digital forums.

Person Specification

• Extensive experience leading complex programmes or data services with multiple users.
• Deep understanding of Information Exploitation in Defence and related sectors.
• Experience in procurement of large-scale services and equipment.
• Proven leadership in managing significant change while maintaining ongoing operations.
• Knowledge of government procurement, treasury rules, and commercial services.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams with technical and strategic expertise, empowering team members to achieve shared goals.
