Job description

Bristol City Council

Head of Inclusion

Salary £81,367 to £91,933

Bristol is a unique and modern city, with a rich history and tapestry of vibrant and diverse communities that make it a great place to live. We are a growing city, attracting inward investment, creating jobs, and developing excellent skills and learning opportunities that support all of our residents to thrive. We are committed to placing children, young people and families at the heart of how we design and deliver services, and this approach is embodied in our ambitious new SEND and Inclusion Strategy that empowers collaborative relationships with partners and stakeholders to deliver excellent outcomes for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Our new Head of Inclusion, reporting to the Director of Education and Skills, will be core to realising our vision; we have much more to do through our new strategy and are creating a positive and restorative environment for our team to deliver. With support from our Members, we have committed £1m to early intervention through our new Inclusion and Outreach Service, we have launched our new Co-production Charter and Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen our partnership work with our Parent Carer Forum and health partners, we have successfully concluded our response to the Written Statement of Action, and secured £40m of investment in specialist provision across the city over the next 5-years.

We are looking for someone who will lead across the entire system, building relationships with schools and other education settings, health partners, the third sector and of course with our communities. We want someone who shares our passion, championing our children and young people, and holding our partners to account where standards are not to the level that we expect, shaping the quality of provision and delivering our new strategy across our diverse city. You will be committed to co-production, recognising the value that our parents, carers and partners bring to designing and shaping the services that we deliver.

This is a great opportunity to join Bristol City Council, where our ambition is matched by political, corporate and financial commitment, where you too can truly make a difference.
