Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a major manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Head of HSE.

As the Head of HSE, you will take a lead on all aspects of HSE performance and will be responsible for ensuring continuous improvement to in-house standards, systems and procedures, managing compliance and best practices across the business.

In your new role:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership on Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters, ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance
  • Design and implement change initiatives to foster a proactive and engaged safety culture across all levels of the organisation
  • Influence and support leadership and supervisory teams in fulfilling their HSE duties under legislation and company policy
  • Oversee the rollout of safety campaigns, initiatives, and continuous improvement
  • Establish and monitor HSE performance indicators and metrics, reporting progress to the Executive Team
  • Maintain and update HSE strategies, policies, and documentation to ensure alignment with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and local legislation
  • Manage internal inspections and audits, analysing trends and ensuring corrective actions are effectively addressed
  • Deliver and coordinate HSE training programmes to raise awareness and promote best practices throughout the business
  • Lead, develop, and support the HSE team, including budget oversight, activity planning, and collaboration with external regulatory bodies and clients

What you will need to succeed:

  • 5+ years' experience within a similar role - Manufacturing/Engineering
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (NEBOSH, etc)
  • Experience with ISO standards and auditing (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
  • Organisational, analytical, leadership and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally (as required)

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

  • Environmental or Quality certifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma
