Purpose:

Lead development and execution of a business facing HR Business Partnering model across UK and European entities. Partner with senior leaders to deliver people strategies that drive performance, compliance, and cultural transformation. Drive European people agenda and ensure HR services align with local regulations and business objectives. Deputise for the HR Director as required.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and implement people plans that enable delivery of divisional KPIs through people strategies in partnership with senior operational stakeholders
  • Drive European people agenda, ensuring alignment and consistency with business goals and regional requirements.
  • Oversee statutory reviews, workforce planning, and the collective bargaining timetable across Europe.
  • Lead industrial relations and manage negotiations with works councils and trade unions.
  • Support organisational transformation and projects such as TUPE and organisational design
  • Utilise systems to deliver GDPR-compliant data, analytics, and reporting.

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a business-facing HR lead across divisions, aligning people solutions with operational strategy.
  • Promote a coaching-led approach to leadership development and performance enhancement.
  • Guide managers in delivering performance management aligned to the performance cycle and KPIs.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of key leadership roles through strategic talent management input.
  • Deliver structured engagement activities to reinforce a positive employee experience and organisational culture.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance throughout partnered divisions.
  • Embed values-led behaviours in collaboration with senior stakeholders to support cultural transformation.
  • Jointly own and monitor country/division scorecards (, attendance, attrition, ER metrics).

HR Service Delivery & Compliance

  • Oversee HR operations via regional HRBP and European HR teams
  • Coordinate and ensure high-quality delivery of external HR ER services
  • Lead the harmonisation of terms and conditions in a commercially sound and compliant way.
  • Collaborate with Head of employee life cycle to maintain accurate and consistent colleague data across entities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal frameworks across jurisdictions, embedding best-practice processes.
  • Identify and implement cost efficiency measures
  • Partner with directors on budget formulation and control within agreed financial targets linked to P&Ls
Qualifications and Skills

Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Degree-educated or CIPD-qualified with senior-level experience as a strategic HR Business Partner across medium-sized and European business entities.
  • Trusted advisor to board-level and functional leaders, shaping strategic HR direction with strong commercial insight and stakeholder influence
  • Proven expertise in industrial relations, navigating complex ER issues with confidence and diplomacy.
  • Successfully led organisational design and change management initiatives that align people and performance strategies with business goals.
  • Skilled in coaching senior leaders and emerging talent, fostering behavioural change, resilience, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Designed and executed strategic people plans to improve key HR metrics—reducing attrition, absence, and boosting engagement.
  • Adept at delivering innovative HR solutions and managing complex projects while juggling wide-ranging priorities.
  • Commercially aware and performance-driven, with the agility to respond to evolving business challenges
