Head of HR
The Head of HR is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for delivering a commercially focused people strategy that supports business growth, performance and compliance. Acting as a trusted advisor to Directors and senior leaders, you will lead all aspects of HR, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development, ensuring the business attracts, develops and retains high-performing talent. This role falls within the utilities, infrastructure and civil engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Directors and senior leaders to provide strategic and operational HR support.
- Develop and deliver the Group People Strategy, aligning people initiatives with business objectives.
- Lead and develop the HR, Recruitment and Learning & Development functions.
- Oversee workforce planning, succession planning and organisational design to support future growth.
- Drive employee engagement, performance management and talent development initiatives.
- Act as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances and organisational change.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures and employment practices remain legally compliant and commercially effective.
- Monitor and report on people metrics, workforce trends and key HR KPIs, providing recommendations to senior leadership.
- Lead culture, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion initiatives across the Group.
- Support acquisitions, integrations, restructures and business transformation projects where required.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role within a fast-paced, growing organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
- Experience leading HR, Recruitment and Learning & Development teams.
- Demonstrable success in developing and implementing people strategies that drive business performance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders.
- Experience managing organisational change, workforce planning and talent development programmes.
- Commercially minded with strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills.
Qualifications & Training
- CIPD Level 7 Qualified or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years' progressive HR experience.
- Significant experience in a senior HR leadership role.
- Experience leading HR, Recruitment and Learning & Development functions.
- Strong employment law expertise.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations.
- Proven experience within rapidly growing businesses.
