Job description

Onsite / Hybrid / Remote: Hybrid (< 50% remote)

ENERCON have a new opportunity for an Interim Head of HR to oversee and maintain effective HR operations, across Great Britain, during a transitional period.

The role is a full time, fixed-term 12-month contract, based from our Edinburgh office and offers hybrid working.

Reporting to the Regional HR Director and collaborating closely with the Western Europe Regional HR Management Team, this role ensures business continuity, compliance, and employee engagement until the future global HR structure is finalised.

Your role and responsibilities as Interim Head of HR

  • Manage and maintain existing HR policies, processes, and activities, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with local legislation.
  • Work as part of the Regional HR team and take ownership of country-specific topics, delivering effective HR solutions ensuring compliance with national legislation and company policies
  • Transfer global and regional HR strategies into local HR initiatives, ensuring effective planning, execution, and monitoring of progress against targets
  • Oversee all HR operations in the country, ensuring business continuity
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the country HR team, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and consistency in HR processes and operations
  • Collaborate effectively with HR Business Partner, Resourcing Partner and Payroll Specialist on recruitment, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and compliance
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the country HR team, ensuring efficient HR operations and the effective management of all HR processes
  • Act as a trusted advisor within GB, providing guidance on employment legislation and best practices, proactively managing risks
  • Drive, coordinate, and monitor HR projects within the country to enhance employee engagement and strengthen the employer brand
  • Advise and guide stakeholders on local employment legislation, proactively managing risks, ensuring compliance and business continuity
  • Represent the company in all people matters, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Foster trust and a collaborative team spirit, promoting ENERCON’s values and culture, and driving HR initiatives
  • Anticipate and manage potential litigation risks and effectively oversee employee relations issues.
  • Apply and promote a safety-first culture and work environment.

Key qualities that we look for;

  • Degree qualified in HR or similar field.
  • Demonstrable experience in HR management roles at senior level within an international setting
  • Experience in HR roles within renewables, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments
  • Proven ability to integrate quickly into an existing team, providing steady leadership and continuity.
  • Strong experience in UK employment legislation and HR operations
  • Experience working in partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior managers, employees and external partners
  • Strong ability to drive change and influence stakeholders
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to navigate cross-cultural environments
  • Experience in a matrix organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with proven capability in navigating matrix structures.

  • Clear and concise communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of commercial considerations and financial implications of decision-making.

What we offer you

  • Your starting salary will be circa £70,000 per annum
  • Your hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You will receive a 60-minute break for lunch.
