We’re looking for a Head of HPC and Technical Platforms to Champion and lead High Performance Computing and Platform Engineering activities across the Red Bull Technology Group organisations leading a team of Platform and HPC engineers. Architect and implement world-class infrastructure solutions that meet the needs of simulation and analytics software developers and users across Red Bull Technology Group. Champion this community within the broader IT department.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • HPC and Platform Engineering Governance

  • Infrastructure Optimisation & Operational Excellence

  • Infrastructure Team Development and Positive Culture

  • Engagement with Business and IT Stakeholders

  • Architecture

  • Budget and Cost Management

  • Security, Compliance, & Risk Management

  • Supplier & Partner Relationship Management

  • Emerging Technology Evaluation and Adoption

  • Manage HPC and Platform Engineering Service Delivery

Essential attributes for success:

  • Knowledge of Engineering applications (e.g. CFD, FEA, Monte Carlo, high end visualisation, etc.) and the demands they place on HPC / IT infrastructure.

  • Experience working in a high end HPC / analytical tools environment.

In depth technical knowledge of the following:

  • Compute for demanding workloads - clusters, servers, containerisation and cloud services.

  • HPC and Big Data storage - hardware, cloud object storage, IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS), IBM Spectrum Protect (Tivoli)

  • Networking - InfiniBand and Ethernet

  • Experience with container integration in HPC environment. Kubernetes, Docker, Podman. Etc

  • Experience with Kafka

  • High end clients – workstations, VDIs and virtual graphics

  • Linux and Windows

  • Scripting and automation – Ansible, Python. etc

  • IBM Spectrum Compute suite (LSF and Symphony)

  • Methods to improve application and underlying infrastructure performance.

  • Large and high-performance databases.

  • Virtualisation (compute, client and storage). OLVM, OpenStack. Etc

  • Data centre management (e.g. power and cooling).

  • Experience with DevOps practices and platforms

  • Cloud deployments and migrations – Oracle OCI experience preferred

  • Experience with large HPC procurements.

This role is onsite full time in Milton Keynes, requiring close collaboration with the wider engineering team.
