Job description

Head of Homelessness and Complex Needs

£57,952 a year

Location: Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent

Hours per week: 37.5

Contract type: Permanent

As Head of Homelessness and Complex Needs, you will lead the delivery, development, and growth of Concrete services to achieve our goal of making homelessness history. You will strategically and operationally lead and coach all teams to deliver a range of services across North Staffordshire and Cheshire East.

Job responsibilities
  • Lead Concrete’s homelessness housing and support services across Staffordshire and Cheshire East.
  • Define and review services to meet customer needs and develop new and existing services, focusing on preventative measures.
  • Manage property portfolios, acquisitions, and developments.
  • Raise awareness of homelessness and promote Concrete’s work to eliminate it.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of staff, ensuring positive team dynamics, development, induction, training, coaching, and support.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and contractual requirements, including data collection and system use.
  • Serve as the primary senior-level communication point with partners, representing Concrete at various forums and maintaining positive relationships with agencies.
  • Involve customers in the day-to-day practice of services.
  • Promote homelessness services, initiatives, and campaigns actively.
  • Act as a spokesperson for publicity opportunities alongside the Executive Director of Support and Wellbeing.
Candidate requirements
  • Good GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent, with relevant qualifications in housing, social care, or support services, and evidence of career progression and self-development.
  • Experience managing supported housing and/or homelessness services.
  • Experience building positive relationships with commissioners, funding bodies, and partners.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing teams across multiple services and locations.
  • Knowledge of managing contracts and services within funded and regulated environments.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of issues, practices, and laws related to safeguarding, homelessness, mental health, and housing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working at all levels.
  • Self-aware, engaging, capable of leading change and achieving results.
  • Empathetic with a drive to create the best services for diverse customer groups.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Valid driving license and access to own vehicle for work.
