Job summary

Pewsey Vale School is seeking a Head of History to lead its History Department from January 2027. The candidate will be an experienced teacher with QTS and a proven ability to raise attainment across the history curriculum.

The role requires teaching History up to A Level and leading a large, hardworking department within a supportive school community. Experience in a leadership position is advantageous, and commitment to the MAT structure is welcome.

Job description

Pewsey Vale School is looking for a highly skilled Head of History to join its successful History Department, with effect from January 2027. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced teacher to lead History within our large and hardworking department, supporting the team in raising attainment and challenging students to achieve their best. Previous experience in a similar leadership role is advantageous.

Pewsey Vale is a small but thriving co-educational school, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 16 years. Located in the village of Pewsey, our school community works together to ensure that all students are supported to reach their full potential in both their academic and personal development. The successful candidate will share our is passionate for empowering all pupils to succeed, and be able to teach History across the full age and ability range, up to A Level. QTS status is essential for the role.

• Has a desire to work within the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) structure.
