We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Healthcare to join our team at HMP Brixton, a category C prison located in Brixton, London.

HMP Brixton is a category C male prison based in Brixton, London, focusing on training and rehabilitation. It is one of the oldest prisons in the UK and has a full healthcare team of around 70 professionals, including GPs, Substance Misuse specialists, Mental Health practitioners, Physio, Pharmacy, etc.

We are recruiting a Head of Healthcare to oversee the healthcare services within HMP Brixton. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical settings and in prison environments.

Main duties of the job

• Provide proactive management of healthcare services on site.
• Maintain the strategic direction of the service and ensure delivery of contractual requirements and targets from NHS England.
• Deliver a highly functional clinical service within budget, with support from finance and regional management.
• Participate in the wider prison senior leadership team, collaborating with key stakeholders to embed healthcare services across the prison.
• Lead, develop, and motivate your team, ensuring appropriate supervision and performance reviews.
• Be the CQC registered manager, implementing policies and procedures with statutory implications.

Minimum requirements

• Degree or equivalent clinical qualification
• Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Experience as a CQC registered manager or similar
• Experience managing multifaceted budgets

• Understanding of clinical governance
