Job description

Our client, a leading organisation focusing on battery cell research and manufacturing is currently seeking a Head of Health, Safety & Environment to join their team. The successful candidate will develop procedures, deliver training, advise teams, and ensure ongoing safety standards across operations.

The Head of Health, Safety & Environment will:

  • Complete risk assessments for all areas of the business.
  • Investigate, report and action all accidents and near misses.
  • Oversee waste management process and controls.
  • Maintain, control and ensure a complaint documented management system.
  • Liaise on a daily basis with all areas of the business.
  • Review and manage the environmental permit.

The Head of Health, Safety & Environment will have:
  • Proven track record in leading Health & Safety within a high-hazard or high-tech manufacturing/R&D environment.
  • Strong competency in environmental issues, including permits and compliance.
  • Experience in internal auditing, specifically ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Previous experience managing a COMAH site.
  • Solid knowledge of HS&E legislation, including but not limited to Permits to Work, CoSHH, REACH, Control of Noise at Work, and Workplace Equipment regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and diplomatic approach.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
