Job description

Come and make a real difference as our client's new Head of Health and Safety!

Everyone should have a warm, safe, affordable home.

As the Head of Health and Safety you'll play a key role in making that a reality for thousands of families in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

You'll be part of the senior management team and work across the organisation to ensure that they are compliant with current health and safety legislation, provide assurance to the executive team and Board and support the wider team with health and safety investigations, as well as undertaking inspections and audits.

You'll be responsible for the development and ongoing review of health and safety policies and procedures including strategic campaigns and developing training material. Working across the organisation, you'll champion best practice and focus on putting safety first and provide regular in-house training for the team.

You'll also work closely with the Head of Compliance (Building Safety) to provide a second line of assurance for landlord compliance requirements.

What you'll bring to the team

Focussed on supporting the team to put safety first, you will be responsible for health and safety across the organisation. You will Chair our Health and Safety Forum meetings and be the main point of contact on all aspects of corporate health and safety. You'll work with the team to foster a culture of trust and support that will ensure the team will work with you to improve performance, report accidents and near misses and feel confident in raising health and safety risks.

What we are looking for

  • An experienced health and safety practitioner, who has led teams in the delivery of operational plans, working with other in-house teams and managing external partners as required.
  • Skilled and experienced in health and safety management and reporting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant UK EH&S and fire legislation and codes of practice.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Experience in creating and delivering operational delivery plans that contribute to the strategic objectives of the Group and an ability to understand the needs of customers and the Group and develop ambitious and deliverable plans, KPIs and objectives to address these.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • Full driving license and have access to a car insured for business use.

Key Details

  • Salary of 60,000 per annum.
  • Full-time and permanent contract.
