Job description

The Head of Group HR will be responsible for leading the Group’s HR Shared Services function, ensuring that HR administration and advice is delivered in line with legislation, policies and procedures whilst developing and implementing the HR strategies across the Group to support a high performing company culture.

This is a broad generalist role with a requirement to be hands on and getting involved throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This role is part of a senior leadership team and will manage a team of two HR Advisors.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Group HR Shared Services function.
  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop the team of two HR advisors to ensure they provide a professional HR service to the Goonvean Group and its subsidiary Companies.
  • Complete HR audits to ensure HR compliance across the Group.
  • Lead on organisational restructures.
  • Work with the DPO to ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of HR initiatives to become an employer of choice.
  • Develop strategies to improve employee engagement.
  • Develop and grow the apprenticeship programme.
  • Provide technical advice and oversee complex employee relations issues including structural planning.
  • Develop a recruitment strategy and implement across the Group.
  • Develop and implement a standardised set of HR KPI / metrics across all group businesses, and support Senior Leadership Teams to drive organisational efficiency improvements.
  • Present HR updates in relation to HR initiatives and KPI reports.
  • Manage the employee benefits packages, working with third party providers to ensure benefits are available to all eligible employees.
  • Take ownership of the Modern-Day Slavery Statement and Gender Pay Gap Report.
  • Active involvement on all HR issues arising from M&A due diligence.
  • To ensure the Staff Handbook, Company policies, procedures and necessary documentation are up to date and in line with current employment legislation.
Skills/Experience
  • CIPD level 5 essential, level 7 is desirable or Bachelor’s degree in HR Management.
  • Solid HR experience with at least 3 years working in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience of managing TUPE processes and merger and acquisitions HR due diligence checks.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to positively influence and build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, to lead by example.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook etc).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact positively with external advisers, team members and all colleagues at all levels.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, evolving environment.
  • Full driving licence as the role requires travel to other sites within the Group.
