Role Overview
The Global Head of Public Sector Group (PSG) is responsible for the global leadership of banking teams that serve central, state, and local governments, public asset managers, state owned enterprises, and development organizations. The role requires extensive engagement internally and externally, developing and maintaining senior client relationships by understanding clients' needs and delivering the best of Citi. The role has combined direct management responsibility and oversight for more than 100 bankers globally and requires the integration of shared corporate bankers in every network country, CCO's as senior PS bankers with the global PS banking team for an effective coverage model. This role is a member of the Corporate Bank Executive Committee and reports directly to the co-heads of Citi's Corporate Bank.
Job Description
This global leadership role encompasses strategic business development, client relationship management, and thought leadership within the public sector. The individual will be responsible for the following:
- Attract, develop and retain top, diverse Public Sector banking talent. Foster mentorship and talent management globally for all bankers and CCO's covering PS.
- Develop and execute a client-driven franchise growth strategy that drives sustainable and profitable growth and maintains and extends leadership wallet share position (top #3).
- Lead team in analyzing market trends to identify growth opportunities and co-develop PS segment specific solutions in partnership with key product areas and industry groups (Examples: Markets solutions JV and JV with industrials on Defense Financing solutions).
- Drive thought leadership and policy development for key themes important to PS clients. Represent Citi and increase brand visibility at global events.
- Drive effective planning, coordination, oversight and execution of all PS segment growth strategies in partnership with global and regional teams (product, banking, franchise, client, risk, compliance, legal, GGA, etc.).
- Develop senior trusted advisor relationships with key clients and countries, engaging with them 3-4 times a year.
- Partner with CCOs/International Cluster heads to achieve Trusted Advisor status to drive growth plans.
- Ensure efficient capital allocation and targeted returns, partnering with GCM and Risk.
- Maintain ethical conduct and transparency in all practices; manage risk and control issues, especially franchise risk associated with PS transactions.
- Strategically connect PS franchise with other industry groups and contribute to governance and strategic planning.
- Own strategy development, origination, and execution across all PS clients, working with IB industry groups on strategic transactions.
Knowledge/Experience
- Extensive senior client interaction and product experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking products and a corporate finance mindset.
- Proven deal origination and structuring experience.
- Consistent achievement of revenue and budget targets.
- Strong credit skills, especially sovereign credits.
- Deep understanding of emerging markets, US government, and development finance institutions.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- US FINRA licenses if based in the US.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent; Master’s/MBA preferred.
