Job summary

Colchester Institute Enterprises Limited is seeking a Head of Governance to advise the Corporation on governance, legislation and compliance. The role leads development and continuous improvement of governance arrangements and supports the Board and committees to ensure accountability.

The post is part-time (30 hours/week, 52 weeks/year) with hybrid Colchester-based working arrangements and a salary in the range of 48,000–52,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• Extensive and current knowledge of corporate governance.
• Significant company secretarial experience within a complex environment.
• Experience in providing authoritative governance advice and advocacy.
• Experience meeting statutory, procedural, regulatory, and policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and review of governance arrangements and annual work plans.
• Provide independent advice to the Corporation Board, Chair, governors and CEO on governance and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee governance documentation, policies and minutes; ensure compliance and quoracy.
• Coordinate board and committee meetings and circulation of papers and minutes.
• Lead governor recruitment, induction, training and development; manage elections and registers.
