Job summary

The European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in Hinxton seeks a senior leader to head the EMBL-EBI Training team, reporting to the Head of EICAT and to the Head of Knowledge Management at EMBL-EBI. You will shape the institute's training portfolio and participate in the EICAT leadership.

You will drive strategic direction, innovate programmes with AI-driven opportunities, lead a high‑performing team, manage global partnerships (ELIXIR, UNESCO), and contribute to international training

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in life sciences, engineering, or related technical field.
• At least five years’ experience in advanced scientific or technical training leadership.
• Strong track record in delivering high‑quality training across academia, industry, government, and public sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver EMBL-EBI's long‑term training strategy.
• Identify emerging scientific and AI‑driven training opportunities.
• Lead and inspire the EMBL-EBI Training team and maintain a service culture.
• Engage with global partners (ELIXIR, UNESCO) and EMBL networks.
• Oversee EMBL‑EBI contributions to external training programs.
