In this high-profile leadership role, you will be responsible leading and managing on a day-to-day basis the development and delivery of the RSE’s fundraising strategy, including the co-ordination of fundraising activities undertaken by Fellows and colleagues across the RSE.

Working with the Senior Leadership Team, managers and Fellows, this role will identify priority fundraising projects and oversee the development of new and innovative approaches to fundraising, making best use of digital technologies to explore new opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the development and implementation of a rolling 3-year fundraising strategy to increase and diversify funding within the context of the RSE’s Strategic Plan, values and mission.

The Head of Fundraising will create compelling, tailored cases for support that highlight the impact of the RSE’s work to engage individual donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate sponsors. You will build strong internal and external relationships to align high-value prospects with programme delivery and lead the planning and execution of major fundraising campaigns and events. Ensuring activities are cost-effective and deliver strong returns, you will stay informed on relevant policy and academic developments to align fundraising initiatives appropriately.

As such, you will be a strategic thinker with exceptional diplomacy and influencing skills, demonstrate a strong track record of leading people, and a deep understanding of fundraising strategy. You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and effectively measure and evaluate fundraising performance. You will be well-versed in sector legislation, trends, and evaluation methods, with strong political awareness and the ability to handle sensitive information. This is an ideal role for a fundraising professional with a strong track record of developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies across individual giving, trusts and foundations, and corporate support, who thrives on strategic thinking, relationship-building, and making a meaningful difference.
