Job summary

East Coast College in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft is seeking a Head of Department for Foundation to lead our Foundation and NEET provision. You will drive teaching quality, student achievement and curriculum innovation, supported by strong data use and budget management.

You will shape an inclusive curriculum, mentor staff, and partner with senior leaders to ensure high standards and responsive provision meeting local needs and employer requirements.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification and evidence of continuous professional development.
• Degree qualification or relevant industry experience.
• Experience of working within Further Education.
• Proven success in raising standards and leading quality improvement.
• Experience of coaching, mentoring and developing staff.
• Understanding of FE quality assurance requirements and safeguarding legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing curriculum team, driving excellent teaching, learning, assessment and student outcomes.
• Use performance data and quality processes effectively to improve recruitment, retention, achievement, progression and learner satisfaction.
• Develop innovative and inclusive curriculum provision that meets the needs of learners, employers and the college's strategic objectives.
• Manage budgets, staffing and resources effectively, ensuring an efficient, safe and high-quality learning environment.
• Champion safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing, ensuring all staff and students understand and comply with safeguarding policies and procedures.
