The Head of (F&B) Matchday Operations will lead the delivery of exceptional F&B across all matchdays at Lord’s, ensuring seamless service for over 500,000 annual visitors, shaping the future of sporting hospitality. Acting as a key contact for cricket stakeholders, maintaining Lord’s status as a world class venue.

Responsibilities include managing ground wide logistics, staff feeding, and premium dining areas such as the Committee & Players’ Dining Rooms and The Lord’s Tavern.

They will work to develop and attract top talent, support future ground redevelopment, and lead CapEx proposals across the department.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Liaise with ECB, ICC, and MCCC; coordinate all matchday operations, ensuring departments are fully prepared and briefed.
  • Lead planning and execution of Major Matches with the Senior Team, managing labour costs and casual staff scheduling.
  • Deliver managers’ meetings, oversee area setups/breakdowns, and maintain high standards across Committee, Players' Dining Rooms, and the Lord’s Tavern.
  • Collaborate with the Staffing Team to ensure effective matchday staffing; support with incident reports and staff welfare.
  • Oversee site wide logistics, equipment, linen, and furniture hire, ensuring efficiency, H&S compliance, and cost control.
  • Manage site wide staff feeding, including budgeting and planning with relevant departments.
  • Work with the Chief F&B Officer on food and drink strategy and innovation across Lord’s.
  • Contribute to long-term development planning and lead CapEx initiatives with Business Justifications.
  • Lead post season reviews, stakeholder debriefs and promote MCC values across all operations.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS – SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish relationships with a range of customers and suppliers.
  • Strong passion for food/beverage.
  • Knowledge of operating systems in cellars/bars.
  • Experience working within other F&B environments/sporting venues.
  • High level of initiative, with administrative and organisational ability.
  • An understanding of the importance of customer service/satisfaction.
  • Ability to self-plan and organise workloads working towards tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure maintaining a high level of accuracy and detail.
  • Personal Licence Holder.

VARIATIONS OF JOB RELATING TO MAJOR MATCHES

  • Attendance at all major match-days, including weekends, as required.
  • Any other duties, whether in the Department or elsewhere around the Ground, as required.
