Job summary

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Head of Financial Accounting to lead the production of annual accounts and other returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory deadlines and reporting obligations. The role focuses on VAT leadership, process improvements, and robust financial controls within a supportive NHS environment.

You will be CCAB qualified with strong leadership and communication skills, able to work flexibly, including homeworking arrangements, and manage a team to deliver

Qualifications

• CCAB qualified accountant or equivalent.
• Masters level qualification or equivalent knowledge, training and experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and co-ordination of the production of the group of Trusts' Annual Accounts and other returns.
• Lead VAT provision and advice across the Trust group; liaise with HMRC and external advisors.
• Develop and maintain systems, procedures and controls in line with Standing Financial Instructions.
• Ensure capital accounting arrangements, asset and lease registers are correctly managed.
• Implement and evaluate accounting policies under supervision from Financial Controller.
