Type: Permanent contract

35 hours per week

• Flexible working hours: 8─4, 9─5, 10─6 or in between (to be agreed with your manager)
• 28 days holiday per year (plus bank holidays)

The Children’s Society has been supporting children and young people in this country for over 140 years. This role is within our Finance team and CEO office, which includes Finance, Legal, and Governance teams, providing expert leadership and advice to ensure our operations are legal, compliant, sustainable, and secure.

About the role

The Head of Financial Accounting & Finance Systems will ensure the integrity of accounting records and financial reporting. Responsibilities include leading statutory accounts preparation, year-end audits, and month-end closes. The role involves implementing strong financial controls, ensuring statutory compliance, managing and developing staff, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance, improving processes, and strengthening financial controls. Additionally, the role oversees and ensures the effective operation of the organisation's finance systems, maintaining a proper control environment and enabling the wider team at TCS.

• Experience leading a finance and accounting function and overseeing effective finance systems
• Extensive experience managing year-end audit processes
• Ability to manage and lead a team ensuring consistent high performance
