Your new role
As a senior finance leader at Brent Council, you will serve as the principal financial adviser to the Section 151 Officer, Deputy S151 Officer, Elected Members, and the Corporate Director for Service Reform & Strategy. You will shape and deliver the department's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and sustainability. Building strong partnerships with stakeholders, including health sector partners, you will leverage financial insights for strategic decisions and policy development.
You will lead a team of Finance Business Partners (2 Senior Finance Analysts, 2 Finance Analysts, and a graduate trainee), overseeing financial support across diverse portfolios such as Adult Social Care, Strategic Commissioning, Public Health, Leisure & Parks, Integrated Care Partnerships, and Communications, Insight & Innovation. Your team will provide financial advice, challenge, and support to service directors, enabling effective budgeting, financial modeling, and delivery of savings and efficiencies aligned with the council's values.
What you'll need to succeed
You should be a qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA, or CIPFA preferred) with strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, and a good understanding of local government finance. Experience of leading significant business transformation, working collaboratively with senior managers, and improving financial performance is essential. Ideally, you will have partnered with adult social care and possess a solutions-focused, constructive challenge approach.
