Head of Finance Operations

Location: Maidstone – 3 days per week

Our client, a leading global insurer, is seeking a Head of Finance Operations to lead a high-performing team within their EMEA finance function. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategic oversight with operational depth - ideal for a senior finance professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting into the detail.

You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting and analytics, with a particular focus on reinsurance. You’ll also play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting cross-regional projects, and presenting to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a small onshore/offshore team delivering reinsurance reporting and analytics across EMEA.
• Own the delivery of timely, accurate MI and financial data, ensuring it supports both internal decision-making and external compliance.
• Present complex financial data to senior stakeholders and governance forums, translating numbers into actionable insight.
• Scrutinise results, challenge assumptions, and ensure a deep understanding of the operational drivers behind the numbers.
• Act as deputy to the Head of Reinsurance Services and Run-off when required.
• Maintain and enhance SOX and operational controls.
• Contribute to cross-regional projects and strategic initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• A senior finance professional (e.g. FP&A, Finance Operations, or Commercial Finance) with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering high-quality reporting.
• Someone who’s not afraid to get hands dirty — comfortable diving into the numbers, challenging results, and understanding how the business operates at a granular level.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior leaders and influence decision-making.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on practical, commercial outcomes.
• Experience working in or with insurance or reinsurance businesses is essential.
• Exposure to projects or transformation work is a plus, but not a requirement.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a complex, international finance environment.
