Job description

We are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-known Scottish charity as they look to appoint an interim Head of Finance on an initial 6mth contract, with a view to then making a permanent appointment. They have their Head Office in Fife but operate a hybrid working policy with a minimum of 2 days expected in the office.

As Head of Finance, you’ll be responsible for both the operational and strategic leadership of the Finance function, ensuring strong financial governance and contributing to long-term business planning. In addition to managing the day to day running of the Finance function, you’ll produce and analyse monthly management accounts, oversee cash flow and investments, and guide the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation of financial reports and year-end accounts
  • Managing treasury and investment portfolios
  • Supporting payroll, procurement, fundraising, and estates functions
  • Collaborating with senior leaders to align financial plans with organisational strategy
  • Coaching staff on financial processes and promoting financial understanding across departments
  • Serving as the key liaison with external partners such as auditors and investment advisors

  • Fully Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Technically strong across relevant reporting standards
  • Extensive budgeting and forecasting experience
  • A strong track record of line management and leading teams
  • A collaborative approach that will get the very best out of direct reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A strong advocate of continuous improvement
