Job description

Job summary: This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to lead our corporate finance function.

Main duties of the job: At the heart of the Council's finances, you will help secure the long-term financial stability and sustainability of the Council, advising the Council's executive leadership on its strategic financial planning. As a key member of the Council's management, you will be responsible for producing the annual revenue and capital budgets, along with in-year reporting and forecasting. You will manage several teams including those responsible for treasury, taxation, and corporate reporting.

Job responsibilities

To manage the Council's overall budget setting, capital programme, monitoring, accounting processes and financial projects and systems; to provide strategic financial advice to the City Mayor, the Executive, and the Corporate Management Team; to support the Council's finance function.

Qualifications
  • Membership of a CCAB or CIMA
Experience
  • It will be no surprise that you will be experienced in finance. You will have a proven track record of providing professional financial advice in local government. You will also have excellent leadership skills and behaviours, along with leading with confidence and integrity. This role may be that opportunity to take that next step in your professional career. The previous postholder has gone on to become the Director of Finance.
