Job Description:

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a well-known NICS ALB in their recruitment of a Head of Finance & Corporate Services. This is an excellent role for a Qualified Accountant with public sector experience to lead a finance team within the Civil Service. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-level financial management, ensuring robust financial controls, and supporting strategic financial planning and decision-making. This position requires a deep understanding of public sector finance, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with senior management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Financial Reporting and Corporate Services within ALB
  • Developing and monitoring revenue and capital expenditure budgets
  • Delivery and reporting to the Executive Team and Senior Management Team
  • Reviewing and approving Capital Projects & Business Cases
  • Overseeing Corporate Governance, Risk, HR, IT, & Procurement
  • Managing a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant with a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
  • Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling
