Job Description

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a well-known NICS ALB in their recruitment of a Head of Finance & Corporate Services. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified Accountant with public sector experience to lead a finance team within the Civil Service. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-level financial management, ensuring robust financial controls, and supporting strategic financial planning and decision-making.

This position requires a deep understanding of public sector finance, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior management and various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for Financial Reporting and Corporate Services within ALB
  2. Developing and monitoring revenue and capital expenditure budgets
  3. Delivery and reporting to the Executive Team and Senior Management Team
  4. Reviewing and approving Capital Projects & Business Cases
  5. Responsible for overall Corporate Governance, Risk, HR, IT, & Procurement
  6. Managing a team across multiple sectors
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
  • Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and financial regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling
