Job Description:

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a well-known NICS ALB in their recruitment of a Head of Finance & Corporate Services. This is an excellent role for a qualified accountant with public sector experience to lead a finance team within the Civil Service. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-level financial management, ensuring robust financial controls, and supporting strategic financial planning and decision-making. This position requires a deep understanding of public sector finance, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with senior management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for financial reporting and corporate services within ALB.
  2. Developing and monitoring revenue and capital expenditure budgets.
  3. Delivery and reporting to the Executive and Senior Management Teams.
  4. Reviewing and approving capital projects and business cases.
  5. Managing corporate governance, risk, HR, IT, and procurement.
  6. Managing a team across multiple sectors.
Qualifications:

Qualified accountant with a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA). Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and regulations. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.

Salary:

Grade 7 NICS
