Job Description

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a well-known NICS ALB in their recruitment of a Head of Finance & Corporate Services. This role is ideal for a Qualified Accountant with public sector experience to lead a finance team within the Civil Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for high-level financial management, ensuring robust controls, and supporting strategic financial planning and decision-making. This position requires a deep understanding of public sector finance, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with senior management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for Financial Reporting and Corporate Services within ALB
  2. Developing and monitoring revenue and capital expenditure budgets
  3. Delivery and reporting to the Executive and Senior Management Teams
  4. Reviewing and approving Capital Projects & Business Cases
  5. Managing Corporate Governance, Risk, HR, IT, & Procurement
  6. Leading a team across multiple sectors
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with a recognized professional body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
  • Strong knowledge of public sector accounting standards and regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling
