Job Description:
The role of Head of Finance leads the financial bidding function and is the finance business partner to the Managing Director. This role provides the opportunity to lead the development of financial bidding and modelling capabilities.
Main focus areas include:
- Finance support and oversight for large bids through the Bid team
- Business partnership with the Business Unit MD
- Financial management for three Business Units
- Managing a team of twelve finance professionals
Finance oversight of Bidding:
- Lead on delivering financial requirements for large complex bids, including franchising, collaborating with bid teams and stakeholders
- Develop and implement financial and commercial strategies aligned with bid objectives
- Establish governance for all Bid Finance activities
- Ensure financial inputs to bids are appropriate, robust, and aligned with bid requirements
Business Partner to BU MD:
- Set financial and operational targets with the Business Unit MD
- Support financial review processes and ensure inclusion of successful bids in budgets
- Drive period-end close processes and manage a team of 11
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure finance elements of bids meet requirements
- Lead a team of financial analysts in bid processes
- Maintain compliance of bid financial models and documents
- Test bid sensitivities and scenarios to assess risks and opportunities
- Lead funding strategy development for bids
- Collaborate with mobilization teams post-bid award
- Manage financial reporting and forecasting cycles
- Coach and develop finance team members
- Promote process improvements and best practices
Skills and Experience:
- Senior finance experience with commercial acumen
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACCA preferred)
- Experience with large, complex bids (circa £100m revenue)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment
- Strong communication and presentation skills
