Job description

Day Rate: £750 - £800 per day

Location:Birmingham
Contract: 6-month initial contract
Work Pattern: Hybrid (2 days per week on-site)

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead and shape the council's Business Partnering teams across People, Place, and Capital portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business Partnering function across key service areas, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Drive financial strategy, budget setting, and year-end closure processes.
  • Advise senior leadership and elected members, providing expert financial insight to support policy decisions and transformation plans.
  • Influence at local, regional, and national levels, engaging stakeholders and shaping council-wide priorities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting professional development and service excellence.
  • Deputise for the Assistant Director - Finance, offering strong leadership and direction across the function.
