Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to creating safer communities. We are seeking to recruit a forward-thinking Head of Finance and Treasurer to join our StrategicLeadership Team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Fire Officer, and advising members of the Fire Authority, this role plays a pivotal part in supporting the Service to realise our ambition of providing an outstanding public service which not only meets local needs but is responsive to the changing social, political, economic and technological context we operate in.
You will lead and deliver a high-quality, compliant and innovative financial service, ensuring ethical financial management and long-term financial sustainability through financial strategy, performance, governance and assurance. You will ensure a best value focus as the strategic lead for the Service’s procurement function.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader who can balance strategic vision with operational delivery, ensuring the finance and procurement functions operate with agility and remain fit for purpose, whilst financial decisions are well-informed, transparent, ethical and aligned with effective corporate governance. Striking this balance will be key to your success in the role.
You will be a finance professional who not only brings strong technical expertise and experience but also demonstrates a clear commitment to our values and a collaborative approach to leadership. You will have the credibility and emotional intelligence to influence, engage and build trusted relationships both across the organisation and with external partners.
Applicants must have a proven track record of operating in a senior financial position within a public sector organisation and will be CCAB (or equivalent) qualified with detailed technical financial knowledge and confidence in managing a multi-million-pound budget.
This is a politically restricted role with delegated responsibilities under Section 112 and Section 114 of the Local Government Act 1972.
The successful applicant will be subject to a standard Disclosure and Barring check, Level 3 enhanced police vetting and security clearance.
